ORIENT POINT

Located within the Shoalhaven region of the South Coast of NSW, Orient Point is a typical coastal village, which is situated at the mouth of the Crookhaven River, overlooking the ocean, the river estuary and the surrounding mountains. Bushwalk, relax by the river or beach and watch the dolphins go by, which ever way, you’ll love Orient Point.

Relatively undiscovered, Orient Point has traditionally been a fishing community. For those who have discovered the area, bask in its tranquility and exceptional views. Orient Point's unique location on both river and ocean make it ideal for water activities such as fishing, kayaking and canoeing. If you don't bring your own kayak or surf gear you may hire from our local company on the main street of Culburra Beach 5 minutes away.

The Crookhaven Headland Reserve, home to the Shoalhaven Marine Rescue Base, has had a major upgrade. The walk around the headland adjacent to the historical lighthouse follows a well-developed track and provides good views of the whole of the Crookhaven Bight. Excellent catches of fish are regularly reported from the rocks near the river entrance.

The regional boat ramp located at Crookhaven Heads provides safe launching facilities providing access to the Crookhaven and Shoalhaven Rivers, local offshore fishing grounds and "The Banks", famous for its marlin, tuna and other game fish. The Orient Point boat ramp also gives access to the river for small craft.

Culburra has a Woolworth's supermarket at the rear of the shops with takeaways, bakeries, butchery, surf shop, surf, kayak & SUP hire, post office, 2 petrol stations, day spa, news-agency, bait & tackle, hair dresser, boutiques, bottle shop, Chinese restaurant, cafes, Bowling club catering with Australian and Chinese meals with a free courtesy bus. Culburra & Warrain surf beachs are a 5 minutes drive, which are patrolled in the summer school holidays.

SCUBA divers also use the Crookhaven Heads boat ramp to access "The Banks" (for experienced divers only) and other dive sites around the Beecroft Peninsula including Lobster Bay the wrecks of the SS Merimbula and SS Wandra.

Orient Point is serviced by a Post Office, general store, preschool and boat ramp.
